Petite Mort
Digitally cut leather + Powder coated steel frame
Petite Mort chair is an ergonomic chair with an aesthetic that resembles the human
form. The aim in this process was to create a chair that fits around the body like
a garment. Marie Valognes came to design a graphic that not only mirrors the body
that sits on it but also physically reflects its shape. The leather cuts are
strategically positioned and act as open darts that adapt to different body shapes.
As a result the body is supported in the correct posture whilst in great comfort,
this creates a sence of weightlessness. A range of this concept is currently being
development.
This prototype was sponsored by Alma www.almahome.co.uk
The concept was initially selected by the making it digital program in conjonction
with Hidden Art Cornwall & Falmouth University.
